  • Hello WCRG Families,

We are excited to welcome you, your friends and family into the gym on Saturday, March 11, 9AM to 1PM for our annual Spring Fling showcase at Shoreline Community Middle School (2750 Shoreline Rd). There is a lot of information in this email so please read carefully.

The event schedule (order of appearance) has been emailed for families and following are the specific arrival times for each group. It's really important that the gymnasts have enough time to properly warm up and stretch and run their routines a few times before the show starts.

    Arrival Times:

    • Intermediate and Advanced Teams: 9AM

    • Pre-competitive (Future Stars and Rising Stars): 9AM

    • Recreational classes (Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturdays): 930AM

    • Provincial Groups (Hoop and Ball): 9AM

    • World Gymnaestrada team: 11AM at the latest (or earlier to watch)

    Gymnast Preparation:

Gymnasts should arrive with hair in a neat bun and optional age-appropriate makeup done. There is no time to do hair and makeup in the gym so please arrive ready.

Gymnasts should arrive in their team uniform (if they have one) team jacket or pullover with black pants, and clean white socks. Gymnasts should wear their branded team training wear (or black tank, plain black bottoms) for warm up and bring their under bodysuit and any apparatus, toe socks, and competition bodysuits. Please bring snacks and water.

Please make sure your gymnast’s teamwear, water bottle etc. is labelled. After every show we find random pieces of teamwear and other personal items and it's so much easier to get them back to their owners if they are labelled. Thank you!

    Admission:

Admission will be by donation at the door. Recommended donation is $10 per person (cash at the door or e-transferred to gymnasticsinvictoria@gmail.com/

    Concession and Stuffie Throw

We are planning a modest concession to raise money for new bodysuits. If you have any bake sale items to donate, please bring them to the gym at 0900.

It's a long-honoured tradition to throw a Stuffie on the carpet at the end of a Gymnasts' routine. Purchase Stuffies from the Stuffie Table. You can throw a Stuffie for your own gymnast, or anyone you like! If you have any gently used and washed Stuffies to donate, please bring them to class this week or to the gym at 0900 on Saturday.

We are accepting cash only for these fundraisers and really appreciate YOUR support!

You are so awesome and we are all so proud of you! Can’t wait to see your photo on the Hall of Fame! There was a virtual awards ceremony and our team got to watch Sasha receive the award! So cool!! What a great role model for our young team members. Very inspirational!

    More about the award:

In collaboration with the Province of British Columbia, I·SPARC launched the regional nomination process for the Premier’s Awards in late 2021, receiving nominations from each of I·SPARC’s six regions (Fraser, Interior, Northeast, Northwest, Vancouver Coastal, and Vancouver Island). Nominations were open to Indigenous athletes under the age of 25 who have competed in performance sport, demonstrated a commitment to their education and culture, and have promoted healthy and active lifestyles. Six athletes were selected from each region, resulting in 36 regional recipients. Of the 36 regional recipients, 10 athletes were selected as provincial recipients for the 2021 Provincial Awards.

The 10 provincial recipients will receive a $500 bursary, a framed limited edition Premier's Award print, and will have their photo and biography on display in the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

  • All parents should plan to attend the Annual General Meeting on October 24, 2022 at Shoreline.

  • Welcome to our new Website. We are still under construction and welcome your feedback at gymnasticinvictoria@gmail.com .

  • We need to fundraise in order to keep our costs as affordable as possible. Being a non-profit, every $ dollar goes right back to the Club either for rentals, equipment or coaching!

This fundraiser is offered by Hillside Shopping Centre and their retailers.. They will host one large event on November 20, 2022 with door prizes, special discounts, appetizers , entertainment, it is a lot of fun!

Tickets are 5$ each and the full amount of the ticket goes right back to the Club for fundraising

The best part is even if someone does not wish to attend, they can still purchase a $5 ticket and they are entered in a large raffle with lots of prizes, so the ticket is also a raffle ticket.

We kindly ask that each gymnast take at least one booklet and do her best to sell all 10 tickets (family, friends, neighbours etc). Some people like to attend every year so they will seek out tickets so keep a lookout!. And if some gymnasts can sell 2 or 3 or 4 booklets, that would be great and very much needed! Last time we participated in this fundraiser, lots of gymnasts were able to easily sell 2 or more booklets.

  • Parents please check out https://sportassist.ca/ for funding assistance for your gymnast.
